Jamie Ballou hails from Bridgewater and attended Dean College where she obtained her BA in Dance Education and Performance. She has been a dance instructor for Paula Coffey Dance Center since 2012 and teaches ballet, lyrical, jazz, contemporary and technique for all ages.
Jamie is also a company member and artistic-associate for Urbanity Dance (a contemporary dance company based in Boston). She is also one of the co-directors for Urbanity’s Summer Dance Intensive. She has had the pleasure of working with several outstanding choreographers/companies including: Betsi Graves, Doug Varone and Dancers, Camille A. Brown and Dancers, Pilobolus Dance Theater, Noble Motion, Jackie Nowicki, Ellenore Scott, Lorraine Chapman and Marcus Shulkind. She has choreographed for, and participated in, several showcases, workshops, and festivals such as The Alvin Ailey Women in Dance Series, Urbanity’s “NEXT”, Boston Contemporary Dance Festival, and a collaboration with the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
Jamie is constantly motivated and inspired by her students and is equally grateful and thrilled to continue her dance journey with Paula Coffey Dance Center as a mover, a creator, and a lover of art!
